Becoming Independent Represented through Independence of Paris from Uncle Franklin’s influence and becoming a good human being (she was not happy at the end when Uncle Franklin implied that she was like him as she did the yeh-teh to escape). Forced independence of Tahr from Shengo as he died. He followed the monks teachings every after his death and became a good person as he made the right decision to help the yeh-teh and Paris. Geng-sun’s forced independence from the mother as she was wounded and Geng-sun was just captured. She took care of herself and of Tahr and Paris when they were both caught by the rebels and when they were in the jungle. Journey was used according to its literal meaning and in the form of irony. A journey is started from one point and ended at a different point. From ‘Airport.......... to the mountains.’ This was Paris’s real journey. Her second journey was that she had always idolized Uncle Franklin, till she finally saw his true colours. I

Systems of linear and quadratic equations

A  Linear Equation  is an  equation  for a  line . A  Quadratic Equation  is the equation of a  parabola and has at least one variable squared (such as x 2 ) And together they form a  System of a Linear and Quadratic Equation A  System  of those two equations can be solved (find where they intersect), either: Graphically  (by plotting them both on the  Function Grapher  and zooming in) or using  Algebra How to Solve using Algebra Make both equations into "y =" format Set them equal to each other Simplify into "= 0" format (like a standard Quadratic Equation) Solve the Quadratic Equation! Use the linear equation to calculate matching "y" values, so we get (x,y) points as answers An example will help: Example: Solve these two equations: y = x 2  - 5x + 7 y = 2x + 1 Make both equations into "y=" format: They are both in "y=" format, so go straight to next step Set them equal to each other x 2  -

Help for Algebra (Basic Word Problems)

A word problem in algebra is the equivalent of a story problem in math. When you solved story problems in your math class you had to decide what information you had and what you needed to find out. Then you decided what operation to use. Addition was used to find a totals and subtraction was used to find changes in values. The approach to solve problems with algebra is usually quite different. Word problems are solved by separating information from the problems into two equal groups, one for each side of an equation. Examine this problem. Sara has 15 apples and 12 oranges. How many pieces of fruit does she have? We know that the sum of 15 and 12 is equal to the the total amount of fruit. As explained in the  Basics of the Equation lesson, an unknown number or value is represented by a letter. The total number of pieces of fruit is unknown, so we will represent that amount with  x . When the value that a particular variable will represent is determined, it is  defined  by writing a
